Melting Point 1

[I'm writing a story called Melting Point. I have written about half of it but I'm re-working it as I put it in this BLOG. I really hope you enjoy it. Post comments if you do :-)]

'Well, you're away from your parents now, you can do what you want', said her cousin as he exhaled and pulled away from Lilith's house in Glasgow.
'I had so much fun when I first left home cos' you can run wild for the first time in your life. Did you have trouble with curfews and things?'
'Not really,' said Lilith, 'I went out but the scene in Glasgow's pretty boring.'
'well, it's a totally new start in Fife, you can do whatever you want for the summer, eat when you want, sleep with who you want... possibilities are endless'.

Lilith smiled and looked out the window a little wearily. It seemed like her cousin was more pleased she was leaving than she was. In truth, she was being shipped off whilst her parents settled a divorce and moved out of their family home of ten years. After packing a bag for the summer she had packed up the rest of her life and had not enjoyed dismantling what had become her personal cave through high school. Gone.

'Lilith?... LIL?'
'Oh sorry' Lilith said blinking a few times.
'Do you mind if I call you Lilith or do you go by Lil?'
'It doesn't matter, friends call me Lil, parents Lilith'
'I'm going to call you Lil', she smiled warmly for the first time and he excelerated onto the motor way.
'So, I've got you a shift doing house cleaning, one in the bar and one in the coffee shop. You can see what you like best and do that for the summer. It makes no difference to me cos we need staff in all these areas.'
'Yeah, thanks'
'No problem, you're staying in the hotel tonight and then we're going out to dinner with my partner and we'll have a drink. I'll introduce you to the other staff and then you can be on your own.'
Lilith looked out the window again.
'I mean, I know I told your Dad that I'd keep an eye on you but really you can see me as little as you want. I'm pretty busy with the hotel and all the bits n pieces but if you need me I'll probably be around'.
'Great, that's... that's kind.' She said.
'No problem' he said cheerfully and turned on the radio really loud and opened the roof of his red, soft top, megane as they sped down the motorway towards the seaside of Fife.
