Melting Point 2

When the car pulled up outside a large stone building that looked like an old stately home. Grey stone and heavy wooden doors opened onto a warm tartan interior with a polished wood staircase and staff members running up and down it.
'Hi john'
'Jamie, how're you doing?' her cousin asked whilst the waiter whipped round into the restaurant out of sight. Lilith and John climbed the first set of stairs into the bar and she put her suitcase down.
'Bartie, this is Lil, she's here for the summer,'
'Well, pleased to meet you little lady' said Bartie with a sweaty grasp of her hand. Lilith shook it back and had to crane her neck a little to take in the full size of the man: a warm, ruddy looking Scot.
'What do you want to drink Lil? asked John.
'uh...club soda' She said, not sure what that was but she had heard it on tv. John paused for a second, nodding and exchanging a quick glance with Bartie who smiled and started pulling out glasses.
'...Usual for me, thanks Bert'. Just as he finished he called over another huge man, who's shirt was bulging a little out of his smart top. Nico sported a short, black afro and a black beard.
'Ah, you must be the cousin' he said in a deep husky voice, striding over to Lilith and shaking her hand, 'We've been expecting you!' he said, whaking her over the back. The force shook her onto the edge of her seat and she let spluttered an 'uh' and laughed for the first time out of shock before reaching again for her soda.
'What's this?' said Nico, snatching the glass from her. 'No alchohol? We'll soon sort that one out of ye wee one. You're on the east coast now, too chilly for soda'.
'Nico, will you get one of the boys to take Lil's suitcase upstairs to room 19?'
'Sure, no problem, boss. JAMIE?' He belowed accross the bar and a scrawny looking boy of about 17 and took the suitcase out of sight. Lilith looked after the boy, half wanting to run after him out of some sort of playground instinct just because he was more or less her size but then turned back to these grown men who were all looking down at her expectantly and decided she was a little too out numbered to be rude.
